The name “Yi Ching” comes from the Confucian scripture “Yi Ching” which has been handed down from ancient China. Yi Ching captures the universe, and divides all elements into two and eight elements.
Yi Ching has a very long history, dating back to ancient Chinese mythology. Fukki is said to be the author of the Yi Ching, which preaches Yin (minus) and Yang (plus)and all things in nature. More than 3000 BC, Fuxi, a god or a legendary emperor who appears in ancient Chinese mythology, devised the “eight hooks” and made it into 64 hooks. However, the oldest history of fortune-telling is the tortoiseshell fortune-telling that was carried out during the Yin Dynasty, around the 17th to 12th centuries B.C. However, it was difficult to obtain tortoise shells, so during the Zhou dynasty (12th to 8th century BC), a method of fortune-telling using grass stalks was devised. This is the root of Yi’s bamboo stick .
