Hexagram 6 — Conflict (Tian Shui Song )
Judgment
Even when you are in the right,
you may still be drawn into conflict.
When you realize this, withdraw at once
and seek the help of those who hold authority.
Do not push forward by force or stubborn will.
People of different positions and ways of thinking
are naturally prone to clash.
Just as no two people share the same fingerprints,
human minds differ endlessly.
Others are others.
You are yourself.
When this is understood,
each side can respect the other’s position,
and conflict need not arise.
If you can understand another
as if it were your own matter,
harmony becomes possible.
When disputes exist,
no great undertaking can succeed.
Even if truth lies on your side,
continuing on this path
will not bring good fortune.
Know the difference between inner and outer,
and seek balance in all things.
